It's been a while!!

Sorry that I have not posted in about a week. Things have been pretty crazy these days with potty training, yard work, pregnancy sickness and a cold on top of it with no time to rest.

Last week, we attempted to potty train Tressa. She did great the first day. I think she tinkled once but very little. The next day, we tried again for part of the day. Everything was going okay until she started to get restless and would cry when you mentioned the toilet. We don't want to dramatize her so we are going to hold off for a few weeks and try again. Hopefully, the second time will be the charm, not the third.

As for my pregnancy, at the last doctor's appointment my doctor told me that I have not gained any weight so far in this pregnancy (I have actually lost 4 lbs.). She said that if I have not gained at the next visit (which is a week from today) that she will put me on liquid supplements. So Ken has been trying to make me eat more high calorie foods. Not much luck with eating when for the past week I am down with a cold. Having a cold really stinks when you're pregnant, because there is nothing you to take to treat a cold. Wish me luck next week, I really don't want to go on liquid supplements. Other than that, the baby's heart rate is wonderful and everything with the baby is going well.

FYI: On June 5th, I find out what we are having. So I am taking a poll. What do you think we are going to have? It would be great to hear what you guys think.

Have a wonderful day.

Today's the DAY!!!

Well, can you believe it? Tressa is ready to be potty trained. Yep, today is the day we start. We bought her some Dora pull ups and she will be sitting on the toilet every 20 minutes. This is my first time potty training, so any tips will be helpful. Thanks. I will give you an update as we progress in our success towards potty training.

Who would have thought?

Who would have thought that in the Midwest earthquakes occur. That's right. This morning at 4:37 a.m. there was an earthquake (5.4 on the scale) in West Salem, IL just about 230 miles south of Chicago IL, close to the Indiana border across from St. Louis, MO.

I woke up this morning with my bed shaking, my drawer handles clinging against my dresser and me shaking. It lasted for about a minute. (FYI: Tressa slept right through it.) I turned on the TV immediately to learn that it was a tremor. According to the news there was no damage in Peoria or Chicago. However, our former city, Louisville, KY, had some damage. The last tremor that I experienced was in Utah when I was in the 5th grade.

We are all okay. No damages done.

Generosity!

Uncle Sam was very generous this year with our taxes. However, there is always a twist, we as citizens are asked to give our time to the court system.

That's right. I have been summoned for jury duty the week of May 5th. This is the first time that I have been summoned to do it and I don't know what to expect, but I will have a full report for you when it is over. I just hope that no judge or lawyer will pick me for trial because of Ken's schedule and getting babysitters for Tressa would be impossible. Luckily, we live in the quiet little city of Peoria where there is hardly any crime that goes to trial. Wish me luck.

A break from Peoria!!

There are times that Ken just wants to get away from the hospital and Peoria. Luckily for him he had a few days off from his rotation, so he decided to take a break from Peoria and travel to visit his family in Cincinnati. We left Thursday morning for our little family trip.

We had a great time. Ken was able to hang out with his brothers and play the Nintendo Wii. He and Tressa had some daddy-daughter time. They went to the park or played outside in 60 degree weather. The weather there was gorgeous especially on Sunday.

Saturday, we celebrated Ken's mom's birthday. Ken's older brother, Darren, had bought Colleen a box of bacon chocolate for her birthday, so she decided to through herself a bacon party. Nothing but the taste of bacon in every bite. She made BLT dip with crackers, tato skins bacon and cheddar flavored, scalloped potatoes with bacon (of course), bacon biscuits and bacon tomato crescent rolls. With the star of the party the bacon chocolate. The chocolate was surprisingly okay if you like dark chocolate with the sweet and salty flavor of bacon. You didn't taste the bacon until the last moment. I guess you could say we had a first annual bacon party. We are looking forward to next year.

I hope you guys all had a great weekend. I know that Ken did and it was well needed for him.
